Artist Statement
I make objects to look at because I enjoy the making. I enjoy the beforehand thinking, and the choices, challenges, and surprises that I encounter along the way, and the TLC that the making demands of me. Plus, there are those rewarding moments near the end of a long process when it becomes clear that I'm actually going to like the look of the thing I've built.
Also, I make objects to look at because I am curious to see what the making will lead me to construct. Where did that come from?
Moreover, building objects for others to look at, like building sentences for others to make sense of, seems to me to be a peculiarly human thing to do -- a celebration of a defining human capacity.
