Artist Statement
I am drawn to both the permanence and the frailty of clay. Clay is as allusive and as slippery as your imagination. Clay can be anything, not only in form but in surface and texture and color. Clay can be anything.
My work is both functional and fictional. The functional work consists of everyday things you can use, cups, plates, bowls, vases and all sorts of kitchen ware. The other side is my sculptural work, the fictional work, the hard work, the work that has a decidedly surreal quality. This work is generally figurative in some form or another and often has a plant based reference. It has been said that clay can be anything, and after that, be careful of what you make, it may last forever.
