Processes in Wood
In the language of sculpture, working with wood can be both subtractive--like stone--and additive--like paint.
Raw lumber gets cut, chiseled, planed, and sanded down, and then glued, joined, or screwed back up. Sometimes over and over again.
There are so many tools: from the simplest draw knives to the most sophisticated computer-controlled routers and lasers. But whether the project is practical or conceptual, we can never forget that our medium is in motion, was once a living thing, still breathes with the seasons. Long after leaving our workshops, wood moves.
