Cheryl Nickel
Artist Statement
Cheryl Nickel is an artist with a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University, with a focus on Art and Archeology as well as Environmental Design. She has exhibited installation and sculptural work in various media as well as doing public site work and community arts projects.
As a studio artist, she utilizes found objects and various materials to present and/or reconcile the contradictions and boundaries of personal, social and cultural constructs. Her work has been shown in galleries in New York, New Jersey and in Southern California.
Public Art projects include work at parks, schools, science centers, in New York, Hawaii, New Mexico, and California. Many of the projects have incorporated STEAM Learning for participants as part of the process of designing and constructing tile walls, benches, outdoor classrooms, landscapes, etc.
