ACSD Application & Jury Process

Step 1: Image Jury

  1. To apply for membership in the Allied Craftsmen, 5 images of your best work (professional quality, jpg format, between 500kb and 2MB) and accompanying image list (pdf format) are required. Artist Statement and/or CV (pdf format) are optional.

  2. To begin the application process, click the “Apply to Jury” button on this page and fill out the Application form.

  3. Please note that images and documents must be submitted separately – the Image Submissions link is provided on the Application.

  4. A non-refundable $25 Jury Fee is required.

  5. Applications can be submitted at any time, but only materials submitted by August 15 will be considered for each year. Applications submitted after August 15 will be considered the following year.

  6. Your submitted images will be anonymized and reviewed by a screening committee of 5 current members representing a variety of disciplines, who will determine, as a group, on the basis of your submitted images, whether your work meets the ACSD’s high standards of craftsmanship, design, and professional presentation. An unanimous vote of the screening committee will be required to reject an applicant at this stage.

  7. You will receive an email at the address you provide, no more than 1 month after receipt of your images and Application form, notifying you of the results of the Image Jury.

  8. ACSD Image Jury Submissions must be received by August 15 to be considered for the current year.

Applicants must pass Step 1 to move on to Step 2.

Step 2: Object Jury

  1. For the second part of the application process, you will be asked to submit 5 additional images of recent work (no more than 3 years old) and 3-5 physical pieces, to be delivered to the site of the Allied Craftsmen of San Diego - Object Jury meeting.

  2. At this meeting, the members present will make the final determination as to whether you will be accepted into the group. You will be notified of your status via email within two weeks of the final Object Jury.

  3. ACSD Object Jury is held in the Fall.
